BE FEARLESS LIKE THE HONEY BADGER
As we hear the word “fearless”, the lion comes into mind on the spot. Because we have a misconception that the lion is the most fearless creature in the world. But according to the Guinness Book of World Records, the world’s most fearless creature is the Honey Badger. Very few people know about the honey badger, so first of all, we have to know about it, that why it is so fearless!!! The honey badgers are very little that the highest record of its height is 23 to 28 cm and that is negligible in comparison to the lion and the other large predators, but then also the honey badgers are the most fearless animal in the world.
Honey Badgers have many reasons to be fearless. They have very thick rubbery skin, which is so tough that it’s been shown to be nearly impervious to traditionally made arrows and spears. Further, their skin can take a full blow from a sharp machete without necessarily cutting the skin all the way through. More practically, this skin helps to protect the Honey Badger from the teeth of predators. Along with being thick and very tough, the Honey Badger’s skin is also fairly loose, which allows it quite a bit of freedom of movement within the skin. This particularly aids it when it’s being attacked by larger predators and finds itself in the predator’s clutches. Along with sharp teeth, Honey Badgers also have incredibly powerful jaws. This is helpful as the Honey Badger will eat every part of its prey, including the bones. The jaws are even powerful enough to eat a turtle, including the shell, without difficulty.
With all these capabilities the honey badger becomes so fearless that once one honey badger was fighting with six lions alone without having a fear. I’m putting a video here to show you more about the honey badgers.
NOW, WHAT WE SHOULD LEARN FROM THE HONEY BADGERS??
Fear is a part of life. From our childhood, our parents, teachers, and those around us all have installed different kinds of fears in our life. No one is born with any fear. It’s scientific proof that babies are born with the ability to swim. Researchers studying the dive reflex in babies found that none of them inhaled water or choked when they were underwater. The babies didn’t seem worried about the next dive. Some seemed eager to dive again! But it’s a love of parents for their babies that they don’t allow their babies to swim. We don’t appreciate what God gives us and waste it because of fear.
FEAR OF FAILURES:
Teachers gave fear of failing in school or college. That is why we always focus to get marks so that we don’t fail but never think about learning. Here fear causes a lack of understanding. We mug up our course to get good marks in exams, just to show others. Here not only schools and colleges but relatives also play a big part. I’m saying it because when they meet, they always ask about the percentage and score in the academy. No one asks that, what you learn from school or college???
I remember in my college times, I sat before the exam day and asked one of my friends about the subject name, then started to read for the whole night and the next day gave the exam and score good marks. I never saw my full syllabus in my college life. Because I just focused on what society needed from me. My fear of failure, that I and my family will have to listen to people, Who were just waiting for me to come out of college and attack with several questions and pressurize me for my career, kept growing all the time. The same thing for school, job, marriage, and so on. So fear changes the perspectives and goals of life.
The same thing happens when someone tries to start a business, but fear of failing makes him step back. ‘What if I fail in business? What would people say if I waste my years in doing business without having a profit?’ These kinds of overthinking questions come to mind even before taking the initiative. And ultimately one never starts a business in whole life and then spends his last moments of life in regret.
Fear of failure is removed by developing an attitude to ignore all the people around you and just focus on doing what you love. Once you overcome the fear of failure, you experience your life very positive and different than regular.
Fear will get the worst of the best of us — TOM HANKS
Sometimes we saw the best player was performing so badly that we can’t believe how this is possible? The only reason for that is fear. Fear of performance is there for the player that he forgot his talents. Too many expectations lead to pressure and fear for the performer. The best example of this is, “The God of cricket” -The Sachin Tendulkar. We all know about “Nervous Nineties”. This term is only used in cricket. Many times batsmen reached 90 plus score and got out because of the fear of hundreds, which is a milestone in cricket. So many batsmen got out into their 90’s so many times. But the Sachin Tendulkar has a world record of getting out in his nineties. Sachin Tendulkar has scored in the 90s 17 times in ODIs and 10 times in Test cricket and holds the record for the highest number of dismissals in the 90s a total of 27 times across all forms of international cricket. It’s just because the expectations of Indian people are high to watch Sachin’s hundred that gave him pressure and fear of getting 100. So here we saw Sachin has a great talent for batting and hard work also, but the fear got the worst of the best of him. Although He has scored the highest runs in ODI’s and tests. He has a world record of hitting 100 international centuries across all formats. That is the reason why he is,” The god of cricket”.
We saw the effect of fear in our life. Fear traps us into limits. We think twice before doing something new because the fear caught us before we react. We fear the stresses and challenges of change. Our fears are more numerous than our dangers, and we suffer more in our imagination than in reality.
ONCE YOU BECOME FEARLESS, LIFE BECOMES LIMITLESS- NISHANT PATEL
As we saw the honey badger, there is no limit for the honey badger. It goes anywhere and does whatever it wants. It applies to us also that once you get out of your fear, life becomes limitless. Face your fear like the honey badger. We always find a way to avoid facing fears, because we don’t want to get out of our comfort zones. We are waiting for that time when our fear goes away, or we change our path to not face it. Here another great example to overcome your fear.
ALEX HONNOLD- FREE SOLO
I know you heard it first-time free solo and Alex Honnold both. First of all, I’m telling you what a free solo is. Free solo climbing, or free soloing, is a form of technical ice or rock climbing where the climbers climb alone without ropes, harnesses, or other protective equipment, forcing them to rely entirely on their strength and skill. Now as you know what free solo is then it’s time to introduce Picasso of the free solo that is Alex Honnold. In 2017, Alex Honnold stunned the world when he became the first person ever to climb freerider- a nearly three thousand foot ascent up Yosemite National Park’s legendary El captain- entirely without ropes. Honnold’s unbelievable accomplishment was the subject of the award-winning documentary FREE SOLO. In the film, Honnold is asked about how he deals with knowing that when he free climbs, the options are perfection or death. “People talk about trying to suppress your fear,” he responded.
“I try to look at it a different way- I try to expand my comfort zone by practicing the moves over and over again. I work through the fear until it’s just not scary anymore.” Making his fear productive is a critical component of his training, and it’s propelled Honnold to the top of his climbing game and to the top of the mountains.
If we can stop viewing stress and the fear that often accompanies it as negative and instead sees the potential benefits, we’re on our way to changing our relationship with fear. Make your fear a weapon not a cage to limit yourself.
Fear motivates us. Sometimes it motivates us toward what we want, but sometimes, if we aren’t careful, it limits us with what we think will keep us safe. So be fearless like the honey badger and live your life like a king.
